Following the very successful lecture by Brother John Feheney on his native Ballysteen, the next lecture is on Wednesday, November 26, at 8.00pm. The venue for these meetings is generously given by Copswood College where the ‘religion room’ is made available. As Kenry is so generously endowed by Tower Houses built by the Normans, the subject matter will be of interest. Marie Taylor, M.A. whose thesis was on the Anglo-Norman settlement of Co. Limerick will throw much light on those who eventually became ‘more Irish than the Irish themselves’. Members and non-members of the History Society are most welcome.
SAVE A LIFE!
It’s a nice honour to have saved the life of another and that is what is offered you by undertaking a mere four hours of training in the use of a Defibrillator. The local courses are going well and the first batch of trainees have received their certification in the use of these automatic machines which are the vital link between cardiac arrest and medical intervention. A token €20 is required from trainees to cover the cost of the helpful booklet and the certificate. While most victims of cardiac arrest are in the later age bracket, it will not have escaped your notice that many young persons also suffer this event with often-fatal consequences. Very dramatically, it is often young sportspersons who have attainted high fitness levels who become victims. In consequence, sporting clubs are likely venues in which to find AED’s, but of equal importance is finding trained personnel to use them when the occasion demands them. There will be further training sessions locally before Christmas and Sarah Beard will gladly take applications from would-be trainees at 394940 or 087 7756590. Give four hours, it could save a lifetime!
ASKEATON SWIMMING
An event in support of the Swimming Club in Askeaton is being held in the local Community Hall on Sunday next November 23, at 2.30pm. This is their 48th such Bazaar and your support is solicited to continue the great work in that ‘Auld Town’.
COMMUNITY GAMES IN CRISIS
The great work of the past of this organisation in nurturing the personal and athletic prowess of local children is in grave danger of coming to an end due to the lack of volunteers to continue to foster the aims of this great organisation. Such national greats as Eamon Coughlan and Sonya O’Sullivan as well as many locals from the catchment area of Kildimo/Pallaskenry have attained national honours under this umbrella. The recent AGM of the group was so poorly supported that the stark reality of the end of the local group is imminent. All depends on the response to the reconvened meeting on Thursday, November 20, at the Community Centre, Pallaskenry. The solution is in your own hands. The only qualification for membership is a little generosity of spirit allied to the little time involved. Shirley Sterritt at 085 1036207 will gladly take further enquiries.

The newly installed P.P., Fr. John Donworth, urgently seeks an organist for Pallaskenry Church. The organ is supplied and while playing it, you may fulfil your Sunday obligation to attend Mass while also keeping your hand in for membership of a heavenly choir- eventually.
CIVIL DEFENCE ACTIVE RETIRED ASSOCIATION
Mass will be celebrated in St Joseph’s Church, Kildimo for deceased members of County Limerick Civil Defence on this Wed Nov 19th at 11.00 followed by refreshments at ‘De Bucket’Pub, Ferrybridge.Arrangements for forthcoming Christmas Lunch in Woodlands, Hotel, Adare on Sunday Nov 30th will be finalised on the day.

Comhgairdeas to Mary O’Rourke, Glenameade who has been selected as a member of the Limerick Federation quiz team attending An Grianán next February.Regretably George will have to make his own Valentine arrangements while Mary and her fellow ICA team members Eilish Willis and Josephine O’Sullivan of Limerick City are wined and dined on Feb 14th prior to competing in the All Ireland Question Time Final .
The next guild meeting will take place on Wed Dec 3 at ‘The Seven Sisters’ Pub, Old Kildimo at the earlier tome of 7.30pm. All members are earnestly requested to attend, bearing in mind that there are important items on the agenda for discussion including the organisation’s constitution and financial situation.
Following the meeting at 8.30pm Kildimo guild will host a jewellery evening with Gráinne Sahid.Admission €5. This is an open meeting and may even solve some of your Christmas presents .All are welcome.
The next poetry session takes place this Wed Nov19 at 7.30pm and subsequent ones will revert to the usual Thursday nights.

We wish Sineád Walsh in 5th Year the very best is presently on her trip to Antarctica with the Pat Falvey Science Team investigating the affect of global warming on the South Pole. Sinéad returns on the 2nd December 2008.
Life Saving has resumed and examinations will take place before Christmas.

3rd and 6th Year Parent Teacher Meeting will take place in the school hall on Thursday, 20th November 2008 from 4.15 to 6.30pm. All parents of 3rd and 6th year students are requested to attend.
