CAROL SERVICE

COMMUNITY ALERT

The new Committee of Community Alert is busy compiling a list of persons who are eligible for security aids and a representative of theirs may call in that connection. The members are Dermot Mullane (Chairman); Roisín O’Keeffe (Secretary); Pat Aherne (Treasurer); Roy Hallam; Mary Carmody; John Griffin; Michael O’Halloran and Garda Noel Nicholson (Garda Liaison Officer). Notwithstanding the value of security aids, the main purpose of Community Alert is in keeping the community aware of the need for vigilance and the recording of any suspicious activities that would interest the Gardaí. Christmas is an especially busy time for Santa Claus and for criminals who are only too willing to relieve him of his presents. Noel Nicholson is always on hand to advise householders regarding the security and storage of valuable property and the telephone at Askeaton Garda Station is ever ready to hear your concerns at 392102.

EMIGRANTS

Parcel post to emigrants from the local P.O. is busy with consignments and emigrants are likewise exercised in contacting the local Kildimo news via the Internet. Photographs from home are especially interesting to emigrants and many comments are posted on wedding photographs and on the recent photo of Con Ward and his hero Billy Coleman. Should you wish to publish photographs or any other material, the local P.O. will pass on these to the correspondent.

BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE

The final guild meeting for 2008 took place on Wed night last. Members will reconvene again early in 2009 when amendments to the ICA constitution will be discussed, prior to a postal vote.
