Denis & Maeve Bradley,Ballydoole celebrate Denis'retirement


COMHBHRÓN

Condolences are extended to Kathleen and Michael Coughlan and family, Court

on the recent death in Nottingham of Kathleen’s brother Mr Bill Ahern formerly of Farrihy, Broadford, Co Limerick. Bill, is pre deceased by his wife Ellen, sisters Margaret (Broadford), Mary Collins (Adare), Nora Flynn (Loughborough), Bridget Bowler (Birmingham), brothers Denis (Broadford) and Paddy (Nottingham). He is deeply mourned by his daughter Mary,

sons John, Denis, and Danny and their families, his sisters Kathleen Coughlan(Court),Nellie Shanahan (Adare),and Liz O’Reilly(Nottingham) and a large extended family RIP His funeral took place in Nottingham on Wednesday last June 24th 2009 .

May he rest in Peace.

MASS TIMES


Following the recent Mass ballot among the parishioners the following revised timetable will operate as and from the beginning of September 2009:

Vigil Mass Saturday at 7pm in St Mary’s Church, Pallaskenry.

Sunday Mass at 11.00 in St Joseph’s Church, Kildimo.

These arrangements will alternate every second year, between both churches in the parish.

IRISH WATER SAFETY TRAINING WEEKS


Lifesaving courses are on offer locally for a mere €40 for a week’s tuition.

From Monday next June 29 to Saturday July 4, the venue is Pallaskenry Pool and the course is being held in Askeaton Pool from July 6 to 11. Kate will take enquiries at 085 1407415.

CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING


Limerick Co. Co. Arts Office offers limited places on their Child Protection Training Programme which will run on Thursday and Friday, July 2 & 3, from 10am to 5pm. NEW COMMUNITY COUNCIL


Tommy O’Shea, Knockroe the new Chairperson replaces Tony O’Shea and Sarah Beard is replaced as Hon. Secretary by her neighbour Morgan McDonagh of Ballycasey with Phyl Fitzgerald of Court as Ass. Sec. Margaret McCarthy, Coolbeg will hold the Treasurer’s position for the coming year. Dermot Mullane of Ballyvareen, who also acts as Youth Officer, fills the Vice Chair. Sarah Beard, Ballycasey is the new PRO. The other elected members are: Michael Battels, Ballyvareen, Dympna Cahill, Old Kildimo; Kristin Collopy, Ballyculhane; Pat Costello, Coolbeg, Michael Coughlan, Court; Maurice Dolan, Ballyvareen; Armelle Mangan, Curraheen; Patrick Flannery, Faha; Catriona Griffin, Ballynacarriga; John Griffin, Old Kildimo; Siobhán Guinan, Ballyvareen; Anita O’Hanlon, Old Kildimo; Peter McCormack, Old Kildimo; Tony O’Brien, Old Kildimo; Shirley Sterritt, Knockroe; Tony O’Shea, Old Kildimo. Two latest members co-opted to the Council are Mary Conway of Ballycasey to the PRO team and Tommy McCann of Old Kildimo.


YOUTH CLUB
It is proposed to set up a new Youth Club in September and a public meeting to implement this will be held next month on a date to be ratified. The youths to be catered for will be sixth class and over. The success of this venture depends upon willing and able suitable parents to give some time weekly when the Club is in session. The venture will be coordinated by Dermot Mullane of Ballyvareen Village and Dermot may be contacted on 087 9319005.


INVITATION TO POETRY

Local literati please note that the ‘White House Poets’ invite you to a reading of Donal O’Flynn’s collection of poems entitled, ‘Lost Grace’. The venue is in the Schoolyard Theatre in Charleville on Friday next July 3 at 8.00pm.


INFORMATION MEETING

West Limerick Resources are holding a public meeting in the Co. Co. Offices, NCW, on Tuesday next July 7 at 8.00pm. The purpose of this meeting is to put clubs and interest groups in touch with financial and other help resources. COMMUNITY LOTTO


In the weekly draw on June 30, numbers 1, 3, 5 & 15 were the winning combination for a Jackpot of €1,600. As no punter made the winning prediction, five ‘Lucky Dips’ were drawn for prizes of €20 each, which went to Eimear & Peter Hickey, Síle Kelly, M. O’Brolcháin, Bernie Nolan & John O’Mahony. The new Community Council invites your participation in this draw, the proceeds of which are channelled back into community development.


CAMP BOSCO
The Salesian College, Pallaskenry once again will host Camp Bosco for a three-week period from Monday July 6 to Friday July 24 between 1.30pm and 5.30pm each day. Cost is €75 per week with three week special offers and family group rates. Further information from (061) 393105

BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE CILL DÍOMA


The July meeting of the Killulta ICA book club takes place on Wednesday next July 7th. The book being read is ‘The Reader’ by Berhard Schlink and will be for discussion following lunch at ‘De Bucket’ at 1.15pm.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT


Members of the Civil Defence Active Retirement group had a most enjoyable outing recently to the town of Kilmallock.

Members from Athea, Ballyneety, Bruree, Herbertstown, Kildimo and Murroe

enjoyed their visit to the Museum, followed by a guided tour of the town and its historical sites. A return visit is planned for the autumn, but in the meantime

other visits outings are planned for the next few months.
