RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME:
The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs have published their programme for 2007 – 2013. On offer are a wide variety of plans, all aimed at improving the quality of life in rural areas. No doubt our local Community Council will be running with this ball in areas such as Tourism, Village Renewal and Development, Conservation and Upgrading of the Rural Heritage and many other areas. Many of the assistant programmes are aimed at individuals such as ‘Diversification in Non Agricultural Activities’ which includes provision of tourism facilities and farm shops, ‘Training and Information services’ aimed at special interest groups that might need developmental training. Deirdre Fox is the National Network Coordinator who may be reached on 057 9333833 or 086 2419680.
