ANNIVERSARY MASS: Friday May 27 has been chosen by the Kennedy family, for the annual commemorative Mass for the late Maireád of Rockfield and Embury Close, Adare This will take place in St. Joseph’s Church , Kildimo at 7.30 pm. On Saturday May 28 at 7pm Joe & Mary Liston’s anniversary Mass will be celebrated
KILDIMO/PALLASKENRY COMMUNITY GAMES: Best of luck to the U14 quiz team who will be representing Kildimo/Pallaskenry at the national finals this week end in Athlone. Team members are Emma Curran, Sophie Hanley, Turlough O Connor, Inan Cullen and Liam Wilson. Liam will also be competing in the cross country competition, so a busy week end for him.
MILFORD BARBEQUE: ‘De Bucket’ Pub is hosting a fundraising Barbeque on their premises Cois Maigh on the evening of Friday, June 3. Denis Allen will provide the music and your €10 admission will go to a good cause.
BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE: On Wednesday June 1 from 8.15pm for approx. 30 mins guest speakers from ‘FOOT SOLUTIONS ‘ will attend at ‘The Seven Sisters’ Pub, Old Kildimo .This is an open event being arranged by Kildimo ICA and a céad mile fáilte is extended to everybody. No entry fee.Kildimo was well represented among the large gathering at National AGM in Portlaoise on Saturday last. COMMUNITY LOTTO JACKPOT €8,550 AND RISING: The Lotto draw on May 17, was for a prize of €8,550 and no punter predicted the winning combination of 4, 17, 18 & 23. In consequence, ‘Lucky Dips’ of €20 each were drawn by Sean Kelly, Ballyvareen; Kevin O’Keeffe, Kilcornan; John Walsh, Pallaskenry; Mary Bourke, Knockroe and Bernie Hanlon, Shanagolden. FIRST COMMUNION: The following boys and girls from Second Class at Kildimo National School, received their first holy communion recently. These included, Odran Behan, Alison Browne, Megan Browne, Zoé Blondelle, Emily Ann Butler, Adam Thomas Collins, Amy Cusack, Kerry Foley, Ciarán Francis Galvin, Eimeá Kate Hickey, Lisa Judge, Ellen Kingston, Ellen Mary McDonogh, Nadine McMahon, Casey O’Brien, Dylan O’Brien, Cillian O’Farrell, Emma Ranahan, Jennifer Ryan, Molly Shiels and Seán Paul Staff. Fr. John Donworth, P.P. conducted the service and the School Choir along with the Folk Group contributed the music and song. Ms Paula Fitzgibbon prepared the children for this important step in the Christian initiation.
Gaisce Presidents Award: On Friday May 20 2011, Paul O’Connell presented Bronze Gaisce Award to students of Salesian Secondary College, Pallaskenry, namely Aisling Kenny and Shauna Doran. A special word of thanks to teacher Mr. Dermot Fitzgerald, who co-ordinated the Gaisce Awards in the school. Paul O’Connell, Munster and Irish Rugby Player, also addressed all students and staff during his visit.
NEWBORN; Among those to be congratulated on the arrival of their new babies are Kate & Noel Hayes ,Dooradoyle and formerly of Mellon adding to the expanding Hayes dynasty.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL: Kildimo Enhancement Plan has recently been launched after several months of consultation with Kildimo Community Council, Limerick County Council, West Limerick Resources, NRA and local clubs and groups in the community. This plan is now available to anyone who wishes to have a copy. It is available free of charge by e-mailing kildimocommunitycouncil@gmail.
YOUTH CLUB: The youth club is winding down after a successful year’s activity. Twenty members travelled to Kilfinnane recently for a very successful activity weekend. The ten boys and ten girls under their supervisors enjoyed a range of outdoor and indoor activities, including kayaking on Lough Gur, orienteering and rock climbing to mention a few. Cathy O’Sullivan and Tríona Griffin have excelled themselves in running the club’s activities for the past year. In the coming year there will be vacancies for leaders over the age of sixteen, who are willing to give time on Friday evenings and for special events. Anna Flannery designed the Club Hoodie and thereby secured her own for free. Dermot Mullane is organising an Open Night in preparation for the coming year and intending members and volunteer leaders are heartily welcome. Ring Dermot for details.
