KILDIMO COMMUNITY NOTES W/E May 1 2010

Vintage Tractor Rally Mar 28 2010

WORLD SKETCHING DAY

This annual event is held internationally to get people sketching and Kildimo has now decided to follow suit.  The purpose of the day is to take some of the mystery out of this most basic of artistic activities, which nevertheless holds such a challenge to budding artists.  With the aid of some proficient and experienced teachers of art, it is hoped that participants will be instilled with self-confidence and some basic ability to overcome their fear of drawing.  A location has been chosen which will offer a diverse range of subjects with help at hand to tackle them.  The first twenty persons to offer themselves for the day’s activity will be listed as participants.  All they will require is the willingness to participate and provide themselves with a limited range of sketching materials.  A list of these materials will be given in advance along with the location.  This is a free event!
Intending sketchers please contact co ordinator Michael O’Halloran  at (086)1203903 /email: ardcanny @iolfree.ie.
TIDY TOWNS

Wednesday, April 21, was chosen by the local National School for their annual Spring Clean which was undertaken with youthful gusto under parental and teacher supervision.  So successful was their mission that the senior Tidy Towns workers were left with little to do on the following Saturday.  On Thursday April 29 at 7.00 pm, an expected army of workers will descend on the Bog Road area to collect the unwelcome and unlovely leavings of environmental vandals. See you there at Walsh’s, suitably clad.  The prosecution of these offenders seems the only way to bring them to awareness of their sins against society.  The Co. Co. will actively pursue offenders if and when reported to their environmental section at 061 496264 or on their Environmental Complaint Form on the Co. Co. website.

Lots of exciting news and views from ARI Annual General Meeting which was held last week in Baile Dún na nGall. Among the successful art entrants was Civil Defence ARA member Lillian Enright from Castleconnell who is no stranger to the winning enclosure in this field. Well done. The national draw was launched with some wonderful prizes including four places on the forthcoming ARI cruise in 2011 and some short hotel breaks in various locations around the country. Tickets will be issued to all ARA’s with the draw taking on Wednesday December 15 2010.
