Tribute to Vera Cahill RIP

The death occurred in St. John’s Hospital, Limerick, of Vera Cahill (nee Kennedy) on July 11, 2010.  Formerly of Clorane where she spent a large part of her life, for the past eighteen years Vera had moved to Ballinacurra, Croagh, with her husband George, where she quietly tended her garden.  The deceased was born into a family of nine children on September 3, 1930 to her parents Tim and Catherine (nee Barry), of which only two are still living, namely Johnny in Clorane and Peggy Gough in London.  The majority of her siblings were born in the mining t own of Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, where her parents met and married and where her father plied the craft of the forging of metal that he learned from his father.  His brother Ned also followed the same trade locally.  Following her schooling, Vera moved to Bray for a period where she worked in the hotel business and for another period she worked in London.  Her marriage to George took place in Adare on April 7, 1964.  Their marriage was blessed by a son and daughter, namely George (Jnr) and Marian (Mulqueen).  In recent times Vera and George were regulars at the Old Time Dancing that was a popular event on Sunday nights in Rathkeale.  While Vera’s final illness was of a merciful short duration, the shock to her family was immense when after a week in hospital, she passed away to the eternal reward she deserves following a lifetime of quiet dedication to her husband and family.  Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church Croagh on July 14,2010 with internment taking place afterwards in Cappagh graveyard.  Sympathy is offered to her husband George, her daughter Marian and son George, her extended family and her friends and neighbours.
Her Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in Croagh Church on Sunday next  September 5 2010 at 11.00 am.
