TIDY TOWNS:  The application deadline for this year’s Tidy Towns Competition is fast approaching and the working committee (largely of the feminine gender) have been actively pursuing the titivation of the area.  Your help is always appreciated and as the wise man Confucius said, “If we all weeded in front of our own place, there would be no weeds and our marks this year would surpass all others”.  The question and problem of rubbish dumping would defy the wisdom of even the great sage himself and the motto of the Tidy Towns committee is, “If we all picked up a little, it would help a lot”.  Your vigilance is always required to note dumpers and report them to the relevant authority.  A traveller from Gort, Co. Galway thought so much of us in Kildimo that they brought their rubbish all the way to leave it with us recently.  The Environment Section of the Co Co will investigate complaints about dumping by writing to County Hall, by phone (061) 496264 (Freephone 1800 201151 or by e-mail to litter@limerickcoco.ie.
