RETIRED:  Local neighbours and friends of Church of Ireland Minister, George Cliffe, will be interested to know that following his many years of ministry, he is finally hanging up his soutane and relegating his collar to the top of his wardrobe.  His final area of ministry encompassed at least parts of the three counties of Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford, while domiciled in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny.  George forged close relationships with all the citizens of his adopted area and has been a powerful influence for unity among believers and non-believers alike.  A public evening of celebration was held in Piltown (“The Model Village”) on Thursday October 10, to mark his retirement and the high esteem in which he was held locally.  Ad Multos Annos.

GAA AUTUMN NEWSLETTER:  If you haven’t received a copy of this record of activities, any of the officers will supply you with one.  The amalgamation of Pallaskenry and Kildimo clubs is guided by Chairman Eamon Enright, Secretary Daniel O’Sullivan and Treasurer Liam Hayes and their committee members.  The 2013 ‘Newsletter’ paints a healthy state of the club with much activity at all levels and a Clubhouse equal to any other rural club.  Success on the pitch is reflected in the choice of several players for County Teams.  Naturally finance is an important part of the success of the club and fundraising activities are central to this.  The Lotto draw continues weekly and there is a drive to further increase members for this.  If a Table Quiz would take your fancy, then the Beer Garden/Dromore Inn is the venue for one on Friday October 26.  The AGM takes place at the Club House on Thursday November 29 when your support and attendance would be welcome.

KILDIMO COMMUNITY COUNCIL:  The AGM of the local community council was held on Wednesday October 2 in the Library.  The community response to this important meeting did not do justice to the officers and members who have been endeavouring to maintain and develop our village and its environs.  The Chairman Tom Griffin, Hon Secretary Mary Conway and Treasurer Eddie Lunn read their reports, all of which were positive and indicative of the work they have been putting into their tasks.  Progress on the final planning permission for the community centre continue to hold up that development but constant meetings  take place between the local council members and the officers of Limerick Co Co to address these problem areas.  The development of the Library and the provision of facilities including digital projector and laptops are well underway with finances for same secured.  Dermot Mullane and Cathy O’Sullivan who share the duties of PRO and Youth Club Leaders reported on the healthy state of the latter club while always seeking help from the parents whose children enjoy their efforts.
