SENIORS PARTY

Make sure you set aside Sunday, February 28, for the annual festive party for seniors and friends. The venue is due to the courtesy of John and Joanne Griffin and food, music and dance comes through the hard work of the local committee whose invitation is generous and wide-ranging. Should you require transport to or from the afternoon, contact Peter Hickey or his little band of helpers.

COMMUNITY ALERT

The local committee of Community Alert have negotiated funding for the installation of personal alarm systems as well as smoke alarms for suitable applicants. They have also purchased medi aid boxes which they’ll distribute at the senior citizens party. These devices are usually kept in the fridge with a record of all the relevant medical details of the householder. This box also has a little sticker at the front door to notify any health care worker who might visit in an emergency as to where to find the box. This could prove to be a vital lifesaver if the householder has suffered a major incident where they are not able to communicate. If you don’t receive one of these at the seniors party, contact any member of the above committee who will gladly supply and explain the device to you. All the above are supplied free. The local Community Alert Garda liaison officer, Noel Nicholson, is always available to advise on security matters and the Community Alert officers in the persons of Dermot Mullane, Ballyvareen Village, Chairperson; Roisín O’Keeffe, Old Road, Hon. Sec and Pat Ahearne, Coolbeg Lodge, Hon. Treasurer, will all make themselves available to you on similar matters.
