KILDIMO COMMUNITY NOTES W/E June19 2010

Angela and Joe Fitzgerald,Court enjoying a day out at Bleach lough

GREEN SCHOOL

You are invited to join the National School’s celebration of yet another, their third Green Flag for water conservation. As usual these affairs are gala events where the joy of education takes over from the hard work that achieves it. Olive, her Staff and Pupils will welcome you on Friday, June 18, at 1.30 pm. If you cannot make the occasion you can certainly follow the pupils lead in carefully using our precious natural resource.

CONGRATULATIONS

The happy event of Frances Wallace’s marriage to Gerard Moloney of Granagh, took place on June 10, when their union was blessed in the company of their families and friends. The reception took place afterwards in the ‘Stradbally Suite’ of the Castle Oaks Hotel, Castleconnell. Best wishes from all the neighbours in Ballynacarriga.

KEEP IT CLEAN

The church of St. Joseph in the village is cleaned once a week and volunteers to do this work are shy to come forward. At present the task is shared by four persons and an overburdened parish clerk. All of these persons are weighted in favour of one gender. Does the ‘new man’ of our day not know how to hoover, dust or polish? Even if possessing only one of these attributes you will be welcomed to the fold. Should you have a male friend with another of these skills and a possible third with ability to fulfil the required job description, then the trio could work in tandem. Should males without the above skills come forward, training will be given. This call to arms may interest wives and partners of males, who could enlist their menfolk in this training scheme. The effect will mean a sparkling clean place of worship and homes to match.

BABES AND TODDLERS

The Jesuit order once boasted if given the child they would make the adult. Now the Redemptorists of Mount St. Alophonsus are calling babes and young children to a special Novena on Sunday, June 20 at 4.30 pm. This is a special liturgy devised for the blessing of the little ones who should bring along their parents. As a sign of our more enlightened times of ecumenism, this year the Novena will feature the Rev. Jane Gilbraith, who is a Curate in the Church of Ireland in Limerick.
