‘THANK YOU’

The Daughters of Charity Lisnagry have noted their indebtedness to the local community for the Churchgate Collection which was held in Kildimo on Saturday, February 19.  In turn, Joe Gleeson of Ballynacarriga who organised the event with the aid of Michael Hanrahan wishes to thank all who supported his collection.  While the centre at Lisnagry receives HSE funding, the voluntary contributions of individuals greatly enhances the level of care which the centre provides for those with disabilities.  Apart from financial support, there are many other ways to help the caring services at the centre, such as giving time to befriend patients or to offer home breaks to families by taking in a person for a limited period.  Training is given to suitable families and some financial assistance to cover costs.
COMMUNITY GAMES

Congratulations to the U14 quiz teams representing Kildimo/Pallaskenry in the county final on Thursday last. Team A came 1st and will now represent Limerick at the national finals in Athlone in May. Team B finished 4th and was represented by: Aaron Hanley, Cathal O’ Shaughnessy, Lauren Cronin, & Eoin O’ Shaughnessy.

GOING STRONG
The annual festive dinner and dance is upon us and will be held at the Seven Sisters on Sunday, March 6, from 2.00 pm.  As always the invitation is generous and wide so if you are a retired person or if you know of any others who would like to attend, then there will be a ‘céad mile fáilte’ to all.  You will be seated from 2.00 pm with an aperitif to sharpen your appetite for the four-course meal that follows.  Donie Walsh will then take over to induce you to dance, as will the hardworking committee members who make the event possible. Transport will be provided should it be required by contacting  Peter Hickey.  Always an enjoyable evening.

‘IT’S A GIRL!’
In the Harte corner, weighing in at a healthy seven and a half pounds, is Adam’s new sister who arrived on Saturday, February 19.  The O’Sullivan and Harte families are overjoyed and this is the first granddaughter to Michael and Rosario of Ballynacarriga.  Congratulations to Isabelle and Adrian who are now thinking ‘camogie’.

VICTORIAN LIMERICK

The very popular County Council sponsored history lectures continues at the Woodlands, Adare on Tuesday, March 1.  There is a local element to this lecture by Judith Hill, in that Dromore Castle comes within the subject matter of Victorian ideals which were manifest in Co. Limerick from 1829 to 1879.  Other houses in West Limerick that will be discussed are Cahirmoyle Italianate house, now a nursing home and Adare Manor.  Glenstal and Castle Oliver will also be described and explained.  Judith Hill has many works published on Co. Limerick and you can hear her at this venue for free!

COPSWOOD GAELS RFC
U8 Copsewood Gaels 15 Estuary 25.
Team: Ned Quinn, Luke Guinane, Eve O'Sullivan, Shane O'Sullivan, Ciaran Barry,
John Curran, James Curran, Edward McLoughlin, Jonathon McLoughlin, Ella Corbett
and Sean Harrison.
A close game after some great play by both teams, Estuary took off and ran into a 20-0 lead
but once our guys found their feet we came straight back at them, Tries from Ciaran Barry, Jonathon
McLoughlin and Luke Guinane saw us within touching distance. Second half was 50/50 and Estuary
ran in a last minute try to wrap up a very pleasurable game, well done to both teams.
U11Copsewood Gaels 10 Estuary 15.
Team: Aaron O'Donovan, Aaron Corbett, Colin Griffin, Jamie Doupe, Liam McLoughlin, Jack Mullane,
Thomas Kelly-Kiely, Jonathan Power, Shaun Barry, Shane Moloney, Thomas Hartigan, Daniel Pearse,
David Moloney, Jack O'Halloran-Hannifan, Christopher Bourke and Mark Curran.
A fantastic game of rugby where both teams played their hearts out.  Unfortunately there had to
be a winner and full credit to Estuary. But the passion and pride in this new club was evident by these young lads.  The fantastic try by Mark Curran set up a great battle before Shaun Barry ran in to level, a foot in touch and close offside denied.  David Moloney & Daniel Pearse hold hero status within the club but based on this performance
it won’t be long before our lads are making headlines.  Well done to ALL for this performance you
make us coaches proud.
